Continental Bakeries appreciates your interest in its products and your visit to our websites. Your privacy is important to us and we want you to feel comfortable visiting our sites. The protection of your privacy in the processing of your personal data is an important concern to us.

A number of pages in our websites provide you the option to submit personal information to Continental Bakeries and its subsidiaries. This privacy statement contains information on how the information you submit to us by using our websites will be used. Any application or request you make will be passed or made available to companies, all being part of the Continental Bakeries Group. Some of these companies may be based in countries that have different regulations in relation to data protection laws. All companies, being part of the Continental Bakeries Group, are required to comply with internal policies which require that necessary steps are taken to protect your information and will use the information for the purpose(s) for which it was submitted.

Continental Bakeries websites may include links to other websites which are not covered by this privacy statement.

Types of information

The information we collect is personal information and aggregate information in order to improve the way by which we operate and how to communicate to you.

Personal information
This information relates to an individual person (e.g. name, address, telephone number, e-mail address etc). We only collect this type of information from individuals who provide this information to us voluntarily and knowingly, such as registration at our websites, or by providing name and address information and requesting follow-up contacts from us. We don’t require you to register or provide this information to us in order to view our websites or have access to its content.

Continental Bakeries uses your personal data only to the extent necessary for the purpose of technical administration of the websites, for customer management, for product surveys, and for marketing.

Aggregate information
This information relates to such things as how many people visit our websites, which pages they access, what kind of information they download, the type of web browser and operating system you use, the name of your internet provider etc.

If you subscribe to our e-mail alerts, we are obliged to collect your e-mail address. This e-mail address will only be used for keeping you informed as you have indicated. If you wish to unsubscribe from our e-mail alert list or if you want to contact us, you can send us an e-mail at the following e-mail address: info@continentalbakeries.com.

Accurate information and choice

To keep your personal information accurate, current, complete and up-to-date, please contact us about any incorrect information. We will update or correct personal information in our possession that you have previously submitted to us through our websites.

We would like to use your data to inform you about our products and services and, if applicable, to ask you about them. Of course, participation in such activities is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you can notify us at any time so that we can exclude your data accordingly. You can find further information on the relevant page of the websites.

How we use your personal information

If you specifically agreed to follow-up contacts by us or request us to be put on our mailing list, we may contact you from time to time in order to receive your response for how to improve our features, marketing and promotional efforts. We may also use your information to deliver information that is customized to your interests as we understand them from the information you have provided to us and your activities on our websites. This customised information may include recipes, product information and promotions. We do not collect personal information automatically, but we may combine non-personal information collected automatically (through cookies) with your previously submitted personal information.

We may occasionally ask visitors of our websites to complete surveys and opinion polls about their attitudes and interests. Surveys will help us to understand your needs. If sample answers to surveys are posted on our websites, no personally identifiable information will be included. If you participate in one of our surveys, you can be assured that we do not maintain any personal information about you in our database as a result of the survey.

Social plugins

Continental Bakeries and its subsidiary websites use so-called social plugins (‘buttons’) of social networks such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

When you visit our websites these buttons are deactivated by default, i.e. without your intervention they will not send any data to the respective social networks. Before you are able to use these buttons, you must activate them by clicking on them. They then remain active until you deactivate them again or delete your cookies (please refer to ‘Cookies’).

After their activation, a direct link to the server of the respective social network is established. The contents of the button are then transmitted from the social network directly to your browser and incorporated in the website by it.

After activation of a button, the social network can retrieve data, independently of whether you interact with the button or not. If you are logged on to a social network, the network can assign your visit to the website to your user account. A social network cannot assign a visit to other Continental Bakeries websites unless and until you activate the respective button there as well. If you are a member of a social network and do not wish it to combine data retrieved from your visit to our websites with your membership data, you must log out from the social network concerned before activating the buttons.

We have no influence on the scope of data that is collected by the social networks through their buttons. The data use policies of the social networks provide information on the purpose and extent of the data that they collect, how this data is processed and used, the rights available to you and the settings that you can use to protect your privacy.
